Twitter Tuesday: The Death of bin Laden

Twitter Tuesday: The Death of bin Laden

I’m pretty confident the spontaneous chant of “USA…USA” that broke out in Philadelphia after the news broke of the death of Osama bin Laden is something that will be shown over and over and over again.

But it wasn’t just at Citizens Bank Park…the imagery splashed across TVs everywhere was that of jubilance and celebration.

That said, the outpouring of sentiment that hit the Twittersphere was as equally (if not more) amazing. And included in the flood of emotion were tweets by some of baseball’s most prolific users of the social media platform.

Here’s what some of them had to say.

@JimmyRollins11 (Jimmy Rollins, Philadelphia Phillies):  Love & respect to our Armed Forces & what they risk daily 2 keep us safe. We’ll never 4get 9/11 & those we’ve lost in the pursuit of justice

@str8edgeracer (C.J. Wilson, Texas Rangers):  Jack Bauer defeats reigning international hide and go seek champion! #headshot let’s be honest though- this is still an ongoing issue

@RobbieW19 (Robbie Weinhardt, Detroit Tigers):  God Bless the all the Troops and Civilians that serve our country at home and overseas!!

@OzzieGuillen (Ozzie Guillen, Chicago White Sox):  to all the troops you guys are my heros

@michael_schlact (Michael Schlact, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs):  So proud of the men & women who serve this country. Thank you for all that you do & the sacrifices you make in pursuit of freedom & justice.

@TheGarfoose (Dirk Hayhurst, Durham Bulls):  To the men and woman in our armed services, a profound ‘thank you’ for your diligence and sacrifice in the pursuit of justice.

@toriihunter48 (Torii Hunter, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim):  Great day for the US. Don’t forget about those who fell from his devilish acts. Be blessed and all Goodnight.

@Wfairley18 (Wendell Fairley, San Jose Giants):  Very very proud of all the men and women that made this day happen love all the military troops.

@bradziegler (Brad Ziegler, Oakland Athletics):  Surely an emotional time for the families of the 9/11 victims..hope this brings a small sense of peace/justice to them…

@Coco_Crisp (Covelli Crisp, Oakland Athletics):  We found Waldo Aka… Bin Laden, killed by U.S. Forces in Pakistan. Body in U.S. custody. WOW FINALY

And yeah, if you’re the one cat out there that hasn’t seen the video from the Phillies game Sunday night…soak it up.
