Dr. Frank Jobe to be Honored in Cooperstown

Dr. Frank Jobe has helped numerous baseball players get back on the field and finally, the Hall of Fame is recognizing him for his contributions to the game.

And the internet group dedicated to Dr. Jobe's legacy couldn't be happier!

"We did it!" the group posted on their Facebook page. "Dr. Jobe to be honored at HOF Weekend in July! Thank you to everyone for your support – this is only made possible because of it!"

Dr. Frank Jobe to be Honored in Cooperstown

According to the Hall of Fame, the museum will recognize Dr. Jobe for the development of the historic elbow procedure, known as “Tommy John Surgery,” that has helped Major Leaguers past, present and future extend their baseball careers. John, the inaugural inductee into The Hall of Very Good™, will join Dr. Jobe for the special recognition.

“The ground-breaking work of Dr. Frank Jobe to conceptualize, develop, refine and make main stream Tommy John Surgery, a complex elbow procedure that has furthered the careers of hundreds of ballplayers, is a testament to the positive role of medicine in our game’s growth," Hall of Fame president Jeff Idelson said.

It's nice to see Dr. Jobe finally getting some recognition for his groundbreaking surgery.  Last year, he was inducted into The Baseball Reliquary's Shrine of the Eternals.

Some of the notables that have had the surgery in recent years…Stephen Strasburg, Adam Wainwright, John Lackey, Brian Wilson, Tim Hudson and Carl Crawford.
