It's pretty safe to say that Bryce Harper is a breakout star, right? I mean, the Washington Nationals wunderkind broke out in a huge way last season and, so far this season, doesn't appear to want to quit.
But, it's his older brother Bryan, a pitcher with the Nats Class A affiliate Hagerstown, that's turning heads…but it has nothing to do with his pitching skills.
Clearly, it's the lip sweater.
“People tell me I have to keep it until something goes awry, like a losing streak or something like that. It will probably be here the whole year,” Bryan Harper told the Washington Post. “I have been compared to the 1920s barehanded knuckler boxer.”
Now, a quick glance at Bryan's stats from this past season might prove that a career in the ring might be a better option than one on the mound. The 22-year-old lefty had a 10.59 ERA in 17 relief appearance with the Auburn Doubledays, but win or lose, with that fine piece of lip fur, I certainly hope the elder Harper is no longer known as "Bryce's brother".
