If any of the 208 people on hand to watch Central Arkansas trounce Grambling State 30-0 hadn't heard of catcher Michael Marietta before Tuesday night's game…they'll have no issue remembering it after.
You see, the senior backstop broke out in a huge way, demolishing Tigers pitchers, going 7-for-7 with a school record tying three home runs, three doubles, a new school record 11 RBI, a conference record six runs scored and, yeah, a stolen base.
Oh, and to top it off, dude even kept a pretty level head about it.
The insane performance lifted Marietta's season batting average more than 40 points (from .304 to .345) and put him atop many of the Bears' offensive categories.
On the other side of the ledger, Grambling State starter Armando Manrrique took the loss, allowing six earned runs without recording an out in the first inning. Suffice it to say, there's no mention of him on Twitter. All in all, the Tigers used eight pitchers…each of them eight allowing at least one run.
Should you want to check out the historic boxscore…here you go. Below, enjoy highlights (and what amounts to be a timelapse of the sun setting Conway, Arkansas) of each of the 30 runs scored.
