It's fitting that the movie about a guy shattering baseball's status quo broke box office records this past weekend right?
Probably.
According to initial reports, the $27.3 million opening weekend for "42" set a record for a baseball flick in terms of straight dollars, topping the $19.5 million debut of "Moneyball" in 2011. When you factor in higher ticket prices (and inflation), the $13.7 million debut of 1992's "A League of Their Own" would have been on par with the Jackie Robinson biopic.
Alright, box office numbers are one thing, but let me ask you this…is "42" any good? Obviously, it depends on who you're talking to.
Checking out Rotten Tomatoes, the flick gets a ranking of 75% fresh…which places it between "A League of Their Own" (77%) and "Cobb" (67%).
Did you see "42"? If so…what's your take?!?
