Mariano Rivera's farewell tour is making its stop at Citi Field to take on the New York Mets.
But, according to Bryan Hoch from MLB.com, what the team has to offer the New York Yankees closer well, it isn't the greatest.
Now, is it just me or is this the Mets' equivalent of picking up a present for your nephew at Walgreens on your way to the party? In short…plan ahead, Mets. Come on.
“I am honored to do that. It is my pleasure,” the future Hall of Famer said. “It will be my last game here. It has been a great career and I have enjoyed every game that I have played here. It has been great games; I’ve saved some games and blown some games here. Overall, it has been wonderful.”
Odds are, Tuesday won't be Rivera's final trip to Queens. And, no, I'm not pretending as if there might be a "Subway Series" in the making this October. My guess is that the 43-year-old will be there in a couple of months for the All-Star Game.
