Mets Legend Hit with Lawsuit

Mets Legend Hit with Lawsuit

Proving that once you get in trouble once, it seems to follow you forever…former New York Mets All-Star Darryl Strawberry is back in the news.

Yup, according to the Thirty Mile Zone, the embattled legend owes a New York-based produce company a tidy sum of money.

New V&J Produce Corp has filed a lawsuit against Strawberry and his NYC restaurant Strawberry's Sports Grill, claiming it recently made multiple produce shipments to the establishment worth a total of $2,694.  According to the lawsuit, V&J has made several attempts to recover what it's owed…but Strawberry has yet to pay up.  V&J is now suing for the full sum, plus $500 in attorneys' fees…a total of $3,194.

There are bound to be a bunch of "that's a lot of strawberries" puns out there and, I'm sure, that will lead to plenty of guffaws and what not.  But…here's what I don't get.  Strawberry shuttered the doors of Strawberry's Sports Bar and Grill back in October.  The Queens eatery is now re-opened (under new ownership) as something called Smokin' Aces Bistro.

So, why the lawsuit now?  Why not months ago when Strawberry's was still a thing?  Is this how this stuff actually works?

Better question…why in the world do we care?!?
