Why The Colts Will Score More Than The Other Guys – Browns edition

Modell
Hello, Colts fans. The key to football is to score more points than the other guys.

I know this and you know this, but our friends in the media need something to talk about in order to justify their jobs. Earlier this summer, a certain baseball announcer acknowledged to me that yes, I was right, the team really does just need to score more than the other guys. Yet each time a game rolls around, there he is giving us keys to the game that never include the bit about scoring.

As he is a highly-compensated professional, I figure that the creation of keys that turn no locks must be a growth industry. So now, it’s my turn.

Welcome to Why The Colts Will Score More Than The Other Guys

Who: The Cleveland Browns vs. the Indianapolis Colts.

What: Week 3 of the 2017 NFL season.

Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN.

When: 1 PM Eastern, Sunday, September 23. TV: CBS. We get the legendary broadcast team of Beth Mowins and Jay Feely. This is rock bottom, folks. I’m happy for Beth that she’s a pioneer of sorts by being a female broadcaster calling football, but her voice drives me absolutely crazy. Before you accuse me of being sexist, let me point out that there are more male broadcasters whose voices drive me crazy than I can possibly list here. If you want to catch other NFL action, you can see what else is more entertaining here.

Why the Colts will score more than the other guys:

Most likely because a series of things will happen that allow them to do so. This is our week for 50% off Papa John’s the day following a Colts win, folks. I can feel it.

I had a few ideas to talk about – including one about how the Colts have started the season against three straight opponents whose ownership – or former ownership – has moved the team. Had a really funny bit with Robert Irsay and Art Modell – who screwed Cleveland far worse than Irsay screwed Baltimore – meeting at a restaurant with Trent Richardson as their waiter…

And then the President had to go and open his mouth.

If you’re a regular reader, you know I typically keep it light. I’ve stated many times on various social media platforms that I don’t care about your political beliefs. I still feel this way.

I also feel like our President went way overboard with the words he used when criticizing players who kneel during our National Anthem. He’s been roasted for it. I always see people tell sports figures to stick to sports on social media. Well, Mr. President, stick to politics.

I don’t like the anthem protests. I wish they’d find another platform. Why? Because that’s how I was raised. I was raised to always stand for the anthem in public. It’s what I believe. It’s what *I* do. I. Me.

But you know what?

It’s not just about me.

We cannot have freedom in this country if we do not allow those of us whose actions make our blood boil to have the same rights we demand for ourselves. We cannot just support freedom of expression when it is only something we support. When we as a nation are willing to accept this, THEN we will truly have freedom.

Again, I wish they’d stand for the anthem. I wish they’d find another way.

But I will absolutely, positively support their right to kneel for the anthem 1000%.
