Not since Chan Ho Park rapped in that life insurance commercial have I been this excited about anything that has come from Korea.
After a solid rookie season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Hyun-jin Ryu seems to have landed himself a pretty cool endorsement deal. However, it might not be for what you might expect.
The pitcher recently did a pair of commercials for Korea's answer to KFC…something called Best of the Best Quality (or BBQ) Chicken. And I'm going to be honest, the chicken looks pretty good. Oh, apparently it's good for you too. Instead of deep fried foul, their chicken is cooked in 100% Olive Oil.
But, enough about the merits of BBQ Chicken's chicken…let's see Ryu in action!
Pretty straight forward, really. The dude wants chicken, he gets chicken…and is thrilled about it.
It's the second spot that goes a little off the rails if you ask me. As a baseball fan I get the connection between beer and fried chicken (insert 2011 Boston Red Sox joke here), but the stuffed animals?
Someone is going to have to explain that one to me.
