Up until an arm injury that sidelined him for the last month of the season (and, more than likely, all of the upcoming season as well), Matt Harvey was the belle of the ball.
The New York Mets pitcher started the All-Star Game and was an early favorite to compete for the National League CY Young Award. But, we live in a "what have you done for me lately" society and in The Big Apple…the 2013 baseball season is already in the distant past.
The other night, Harvey and his girlfriend, supermodel Anne V, were courtside at Madison Square Garden for a New York Knicks game and, well, Joe Benigno from WFAN in New York had a difficult time with the ace being there.
"Here's the thing that gets me…Harvey's like this major celebrity, but let's be real, the guy has basically done nothing," Benigno said.
Tough crowd.
"This guy's sitting there at courtside," Benigno continued. "I don't need to see my star pitcher, who's not going to pitch at all this year…I don't need to see him canoodling with his girlfriend at courtside at the Knick game. You know what I'm sayin'?"
No. No, we don't.
If the guy wants to go to a game in the middle of December, he should be able to. It doesn't matter if he's played for the Mets two years or ten. Feel free to listen to the rest of the clip below…it's an interesting one.
