Alright. I'm going to need your help on this one. Is this bobblehead giveaway completely asinine…or a stroke of genius?
Friday, the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals announced their first giveaway of the upcoming season would be a rather unique bobblehead.
According to the team, this "one-of-a-kind bobblehead commemorates Joe Kelly's famous victory" in his standoff with outfielder Scott Van Slyke of the Los Angeles Dodgers after the National Anthem before Game Six of October's National League Championship Series.
Of course, the Kelly bobblehead is just the latest in a series of head scratchers. Last season, the Tampa Bay Rays did a bobblehead giveaway featuring Astro, David Price's dog.
Sidenote. I think my favorite bobblehead giveaway was from 2006, when the Round Rock Express commemorated, for some reason, Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan's three career stolen bases.
