When it comes to hitting, there’s “home run power” and then, simply…”power”. Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez has the latter. Just ask Cubs fan Grant Smith.
You see, Smith’s car was on the receiving end of an impressive blast by Baez Friday in Mesa.
“I saw it fly and I heard a sound,” infielder Logan Watkins said.
The sound?
“Glass,” Watkins added.
@CarrieMuskat @javy23baez @cubs My car was one that got hit. Didn’t even get the ball either 🙁 pic.twitter.com/1ghuiaVoso

I’m not sure if insurance covers a windshield busted up by a batting practice homer, but at least Baez was nice about it. The prospect, who connected on a combined 37 homers between Single and Double-A last season, even offered up some helpful advice.
@javy23baez thanks. No need to pay for it. But a ball would be nice. Someone else must have swooped it up befor we got out there.
