Last season, the Miami Marlins finished with the worst record in the National League.
During the season premiere of “Survivor: Cagayan” Wednesday night, team president and contestant David Samson fared no better.
Before the game started, the 45-year-old Samson, who answers to team president Jeffrey Loria and listed his claim to fame as "got local government in Miami to contribute over 350 million dollars to a new baseball park during the recession", was incredibly optimistic.
"In baseball there's only one winner in the end," Samson said early on in the two-hour episode. "'Survivor' (is) the same, so I've been playing this game for a long time. Just not on the beach."
But, after what show host Jeff Probst called "one of the worst performances out of the gate in the history of 'Survivor’”…it was an entirely different, um, ballgame. Major League Baseball’s latest link (could-be Hall of Famer Jeff Kent finished tenth during ‘Survivor: Philippines”) to the hit CBS show found himself on the losing end of a 4-2 vote.
"I have no regrets," Samson said during his exit interview. "The tribe just doesn't have it together, or they have it together but against me. No hard feelings. I consider myself pretty much the luckiest person in the world."
Pretty sure Marlins fans hope their team lasts a little longer this upcoming season.
