<![CDATA[The NFL Draft came and went and left undrafted…Utah Utes tight end Jake Murphy, son of former Major Leaguer Dale Murphy.
The 24-year-old was expected to be selected Saturday, but, instead, found himself on the receiving end of a post-draft contract offer from the Oakland Raiders. The son of the two-time National League MVP and 2013 Hall of Very Good inductee is, like his dad, regarded as one of the nicer guys out there and that compassion for others was on display when he hit the Twitters after announcing his deal.
@HandicapHulk09 thought i’d tell you personally I’m going to Oakland. It will be an honor representing the same team your dad starred for

@Jake_Murphy82 I’m excited to see you as a Raider. Hopefully you can help them bring back the glory they had when Todd was there.

@HandicapHulk09 hope all is good with you and the fam. Your dad was quick to give me good TE advice whenever I saw him. I’ll never forget it

@Jake_Murphy82 If you get the chance to wear 46, I’m sure my dad would be proud to have you don it.

If you didn’t figure it out, @HandicapHulk09 is the son of Todd Christensen, the longtime Raiders tight end who passed away last November.
Both men call Alpine, Utah home so I’m guessing the two probably know each other. But that’s not where the similarities end. Jake and Teren have taken to the internet to garner support for the dads and their inclusion in the respective Halls of Fame.]]>
