Red Sox Prospect Popped for Aggravated Robbery

fork-in-the-road

Nearly three years ago, Pittsburgh Pirates fans held their collective breath when they saw “Jason Grilli” had been arrested for drug trafficking and was facing a minimum of 15 years in prison.

Of course, as we can all surmise…that was a different Jason Grilli.

I’ve gotta imagine Boston Red Sox fans had their collective fingers crossed when they heard the news pitching prospect Cody Kukuk had been popped for his involvement (allegedly) with an early November home invasion.

Unfortunately, it was THAT Cody Kukuk and not someone with the same name.

As the story goes, Kukuk and a couple of buddies, armed with handguns, broke into a Lawrence, Kansas apartment, beat up the residents and walked away with cash, two cellphones, an Xbox 360 and all the contents of a safe. And to make matters worse, this wasn’t the lefty’s first run-in with the law. In 2012, Kukuk was arrested for driving under the influence.  Yikes.

The 21-year-old Kukuk went 7-7 with a 4.47 ERA in 25 starts split between Greenville and Salem. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2011 MLB draft.
