Ichiro to End Up in South Beach?

It’s not a huge signing, but all signs are pointing to Ichiro Suzuki heading to South Beach to the tune of $2 million for one year and playing for the Miami Marlins. But anytime a former MVP and ten-time All-Star is rumored to be switching teams…that’s enough to make a little splash.

Currently, Ichiro and his 2,844 career hits sit behind just Alex Rodriguez (2,939 hits) on the active list and he is 156 base knocks from 3,000.  Unfortunately, the 41-year-old hasn’t gotten anywhere near 156 hits in a season since 2012 and given he’s slated to be the fourth outfielder behind Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich, it doesn’t look like he’ll reach the milestone anytime soon.

Also, with 4,122 professional hits between Japan and the States, the 41-year-old outfielder is a mere 134 hits short of Pete Rose’s all-time record of 4,256.  So yeah…stay tuned.
