That Time Some Dudes Broke Into The Astrodome

The Harris County Domed Stadium, er, Houston Astrodome hasn’t hosted a baseball game since October 9, 1999, yet…everyone still knows its name.

Come to think of it, outside of WrestleMania X-7 in 2001 and playing house to Hurricane Katrina victims four years later, the dome, once dubbed the “Eighth Wonder of the World” hasn’t seen much action since the Astros made the nearly eight mile trip across Houston to what we now call Minute Maid Park.

Which brings us to, what you’ve got to believe, was a crazy night in 2012.

Apparently, three dudes found “a gap in the fence” and made their way into the formerly famous stadium. Thankfully, they documented everything and put the pictures online for everyone to see. And, naturally, the pictures didn’t come without a disclaimer.

“We were NOT in there to vandalize, steal, or damage any property. Just there to see how the ol’ dome was doing,” the anonymous poster wrote. “Also, I do not know the current condition of the astrodome and even if it were to be in the same condition as it was when we checked it out I would NOT recommend and do not condone trespassing on private property. I don’t think the building is safe anymore so don’t do it!”

Also don’t do it because, well, it’s already been done and…yeah.

Anyway…here’s one of the dudes in ‘stros old locker room.

I’d like to crack on these guys for their antics, but I can’t because, honestly, I’d probably have done the same thing. Speaking of which…who’s up for a roadtrip to Houston?
