Bryce Harper is finally living up to the Herculean expectations that have been following him since he was a teenager.
That’s not to say he hasn’t been good…he has. What I’m saying is that Harper, now in his fourth season, is being that all-world slugger everyone thought he was going to be when he hit the big leagues in 2012. And apparently there’s a reason for that.
His socks.
That’s right, according to Hashtag Important, the Washington Nationals All-Star’s meteoric rise this season can be directly attributed to his hosiery. Check it out for yourself.
Basically, when Harper wears high socks or stirrups, the Nationals are 22-12 and Harper is crushing the ball. When the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year wears baggy pants, his batting average drops about 60 points (to .313) and his team is a sub-par baseball team.
The numbers don’t lie, folks.
