Prior to the season, the Chicago Tribune did its best to try and change the Cubs postgame victory celebration from including “Go, Cubs Go” to something else.
Perhaps they should’ve just asked the players.
According to the Tribune’s Luis Gomez, the team has opted to style and profile following a win…and it all started with admiration for a certain 16-time World Champion and one player calling out “let me get two claps and a Ric Flair”.
“I think Anthony Rizzo or David Ross started it (here),” pitcher Jon Lester said. “It’s kind of like the MVP of the game. It’s a celebration of the game. We like to have fun and it’s a way to enjoy (the wins).”
