Jon Hamm loves his St. Louis Cardinals and, it would appear…the team loves the “Mad Men” actor right back.
The St. Louis native was a guest on a recent Sklarboro Country podcast and discussed all things Emmys (including his recent win) with the hosts Randy and Jason Sklar. Hamm also shared the volume of congratulatory text messages he received.
Included…a certain Hall of Fame shortstop.
“This (win) was very, very different…I must’ve had 200 texts and emails at least. From people from my past. From people like Ozzie Smith,” Hamm told the brothers. “(Smith) texted me and was like ‘hey, man, congratulations!’ There were so many genuinely nice things that people were reaching out and saying.”
At first, your mind goes right to “Jon Hamm and Ozzie Smith are friends?” but then when you think about it, yeah…why wouldn’t they be? I mean, it isn’t like The Gateway City is crawling with celebrities and, after a quick glance at the Googles, the pair have known each other since at least 2009 when they suited up for the All-Star Game’s annual celebrity softball spectacular.
Fast forward a few years when the duo was reunited for “Jon Hamm Night” at Busch Stadium. The Wizard was on the receiving end of Hamm’s ceremonial first pitch.
Full. Circle.
