Amusement Parks Make Wager on Cubs-Mets Series

-14

Following the Chicago Cubs victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS, Six Flags in St. Louis was forced to change the name of their American Thunder ride to “Chicago Thunder”.

Welp…they’re at it again.

Six Flags Gurnee, which is a mere 40 miles to the north of the Windy City, has agreed to a similar bet with Six Flags Great Adventure, its New York-area counterpart. Basically, if the Cubs win, Great Adventure will be renamed “Six Flag Great Cubs” and its rollercoaster Kingda Ka will be changed to “Kindga Cubs”. Conversely, if the Cubs lose…the Gurnee park will be renamed “Six Flags Great Mets” and it popular coaster Goliath will be called, you guessed it, “GoMets”.

But don’t fret Cubs fans, should your beloved Loveable Losers lose, you only have to endure the name change for a couple weeks. And Mets fans…do you really want to ride a rollercoaster that’s named after a (potential) postseason collapse by the Cubs? I realize both of these are stretches, but you wouldn’t ride in a boat called The Titanic or an airship named after The Hindenburg would you?!?

Both parks close at the conclusion of their annual Fright Fest on November 1.
