When the Kansas City Royals announced that Edinson Volquez would be back for Game Five Sunday night, the baseball world held its collective breath, hoping the pitcher would do his father (who died just prior to Game One) proud.
And after scattering just two hits over six innings, it’s pretty safe to say that, somewhere, Daniel Volquez was smiling, cheering on his son.
Unfortunately, because the internet…there are also those who felt like they needed to crap on the pitcher and his recently deceased father.
Is it bad I keep making jokes about Volquez dad ?

I Know Volquez lost his dad but I hope the mets just keep hitting that ball so high and far that his dad catches a ball #WorldSeries #LGM

Has anyone heard anything about Edison Volquez’s dad? Is he still dead? Joe Buck has gone a full 11 seconds without mentioning it.

No disrespect, but if they are going to bring up Volquez’s dad with every pitch, I’m going to shoot someone. #mets
