PLAYING CAREER: Boston Red Sox (1996–2004), Chicago Cubs (2004–2005), Los Angeles Dodgers (2006–2008) and Oakland Athletics (2009).
ACHIEVEMENTS: Two-time American League batting champion (1999 and 2000), with a career batting average of .313. On May 10, 1999, become one of just 13 players in Major League history to hit two grand slams during a single game, and the only player to achieve the feat at his home stadium. Six-time All-Star (1997, 1999-2000, 2002-2003 and 2006). 1997 American League Rookie of the Year and Silver Slugger Award. 2006 National League Comeback Player of the Year. 2014 inductee into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.

HOVG THOUGHTS: Alright, reality check time. Nomar Garciaparra is one of my favorite players of all-time, so naturally…one would think that I would automatically pencil him in for induction. Unfortunately, his career numbers just aren’t good enough. He started his career alongside Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter and, arguably, overshadowed them at first. However, injuries plagued the Whittier, California native, whereas the other two are legends.
