When it comes to jersey sales…the Kansas City Royals are kings.
Major League Baseball released a list of its best-selling jerseys for the first half of 2016 and four Royals (Eric Hosmer, Salvador Perez, Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon) cracked the top 20. Last year, no Royals were among the league’s hottest sellers.
Now, as exciting as it is that the defending World Series Champs have one-fifth of the best-selling jerseys in baseball…more impressive are the jersey sales of the Chicago Cubs.
The Lovable Losers are selling more jerseys than anyone else and as of right now, they have three of the top seven best-selling jerseys.
- David Ortiz, Red Sox
- Kris Bryant, Cubs
- Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers
- Anthony Rizzo, Cubs
- Mike Trout, Angels
- Buster Posey, Giants
- Jake Arrieta, Cubs
- Yadier Molina, Cardinals
- Bryce Harper, Nationals
- Noah Syndergaard, Mets
- Salvador Perez, Royals
- Eric Hosmer, Royals
- Jacob deGrom, Mets
- Andrew McCutchen, Pirates
- Alex Gordon, Royals
- Madison Bumgarner, Giants
- David Wright, Mets
- Lorenzo Cain, Royals
- Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays
- Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox
It’s worth noting that all but six of the top 20 jersey sales are holdovers from last year. Outside of the four Royals, Arrieta and Syndergaard are also new to the list.
