I talk a lot of shit about Jovo but at the ended of the day, he is on my team. If needed, I would defend his ass to people on other teams. And the other night the Coyotes honored him for his 1,000th NHL game (which was played in Dallas). His family was on the ice with him and he received many items. I want the silver hockey stick. That looked awesome. During the ceremony his name & number were lit on the ice in white. During the anthem they changed to red, white and blue. It was actually a really nice ceremony.
And I’m not going to lie, I had tears in my eyes.
Unfortunately the Coyotes lost that game against the Sabres. They did play hard and they did deserve the two points but eh, what can you do? You lace up your skates and glide on to the next game…
I picked the title of this post after the Sabres game. I had a feeling things were going to start looking better for the Coyotes and in a way they have.
There was a quick road trip where the Coyotes beat both the Blues and the Blue Jackets (both games were 4-3, crazy) then home for a pair of sweet games.
First came the 5-1 beat down we gave Toronto. It should have been a shut out but the refs effed it up. I do not think I have ever been more angry at a game then I was at this one. Toronto (and their fans) are now right up there with the Red Wings. It was horrid. Horrid.
First off there was some hit on Jovo. And now Jovo is out. Jovo was mad. I was screaming for a suspension on Mike Brown and the jerk only got three games. Doan got freaking 3 games for a way less serious hit than that. But the NHL has ther perogative I guess. I should be used to it by now. Then MacArthur just start wailing on a prone Korpi. I would have like to have seen something on that too. That was totally uncalled for. You dont continue to punch someone who is already on the ice trying to cover his face. Espicially a poor defenseless Finnish boy.
So needless to say, there was much yelling on my part. And when the Leafs FINALLY scored and their fans cheered, I yelled, look at the scoreboard we are still winning! Or something like that. Then when they were leaving en mass, I made to sure to tell them good bye and enjoy our weather. I think it was 72 that day…
Some of the best may have come from Luke Lapinski on twitter… he was cracking us up!
Just think, all the brawls in this #Coyotes game could’ve been avoided if Jovo hadnt used his head to hit Mike Brown in the elbow.
Pretty sure the move Yandle just pulled on that last assist isn’t even legal in this state. #Coyotes up 3-0
And then there was last night when we laid out a 6-2 win over the Ducks. Sometimes victory is sweet my friends.
The best part of the game? The women who came during the 2nd, turned around and asked, “Are you two going to talk through the whole game? I can’t concentrate.” Ummmm, well now that you’ve asked, YES, Yes I will. So they leave after the second and give their tickets to these two female Duck fans. The first women told them to “annoy us”. Well, that plan backfired cuz those chicks were pretty cool. The four of us BSed the rest of the game and had a great time! If you want quiet… DON”T GO TO A HOCKEY GAME! Maybe you should try the library or something like that. And BTW, you were too old and too ugly to hook a hockey player.
Sami got an awesome goal last night. And then when I watched the post game I realized the first person he hugged was the ref. HAH. I love that kid. If I had the money I would get a Lepisto third jersey. Last night was his first multi-point NHL game. Congrats Sami! Fiddy got in a fit and unfortunately was injured. He will be out for a bit. New Czech hasn’t played yet but he will never replace Prucha in my heart/mind. Whitney got two goals and reached 900 points. You will always be Ray Ray/Shitney to me. Sorry but you make crappy comments about the fan base, you can score a zillion goals and I will still make fun of you (yet defend you if needed to non-yotes fans).
Oh and we chased Hiller out of net. Although, I enjoy watching Hiller play goal so it was a little bittersweet.
Next up is the Sharks tomorrow for the MLK matinee. I can’t wait. I always like the MLK game. Its fun hitting up a hockey game at 2 pm.
