It was a pretty big day goalie wise, most surprising was the non-signing of Vokoun. Vokoun was my first choice but I heard it was between Phx & Col but both teams signed different goalies. JS Giguere to Col and Mike Smith to Phoenix.
Mike Smith was actually my second choice. His puck handling is excellent and he’s a big guy. I think with the help of Burke, he will blossom into a pretty solid starter. I also expect that LaBarbera will get a little more playing time with Smith, which I am ok with. LaBarbera can handle a few more games. In fact I think it would be helpful so he is not quite so rusty between games.

Jose Theodore to Florida (hah! I started a #noJoseno when there was a rumor he may sign with Phoenix)
Tampa Bay resigns Roloson and adds Mathieu Garon. This could be an interesting tandem. I kinda would like to see how this plays out…
Brian Boucher goes to Carolina. He’s tall, he’s bald, he’s Alex Auld goes to Ottawa.
Obviously there were a few others but those seemed like a few of the most notable.
Now I am off to drown my Jagr signing sorrows in my drink… 😉
