6 in a row…the bad way

Well, the west coast road trip is over, the short two game homestand is done, and unfortunately the Raptors didn’t add any ‘W’s to the left hand column in the standings. The Raptors are currently sitting at 1-7 and which puts them in last place in the Eastern Conference, and they currently have the longest losing streak in the NBA, at 6 games (as this blog post’s title refers to).

The Raptors played a closer game against the Lakers than I expected, but ended up behind early against the Trailblazers and didn’t give themselves an opportunity to steal one on the road. Then came the 2 home games against the Golden State Warriors and the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Warriors continued to show why they will be a force to be reckoned with all season long, and are looking like a team that could grab a Western Confernce playoff birth (no easy feat I might add!). Although Monta Ellis was injured in this game, he and Stephen Curry stole the show. They showed everyone why they are one of the Association’s best and most exciting backcourt duos.

Last night’s game versus the Bobcats was another heartbreaker, similar to the game against the Sacramento Kings. It was a back and forth contest until late in the 4th quarter – with the Raptors down 99-96 and looking to tie the game, Andrea Bargnani had the ball stolen by Stephen Jackson before he even had the chance which essentially sealed the Raptors’ fate in the ball game.

The road doesn’t get any easier for the Raptors this week as they go on the road for tilts versus the Orlando Magic and the Raptors’ new nemesis, for obvious reasons, the Miami Heat.

As is our tradition this season, here’s Payal Doshi’s thoughts on the Raptors’ games vs. the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Lakers. We have a few more vlogs from Payal on the Raptors’ most recent games that we’ll have up later tonight along with a preview for the games against Orlando & Miami.
