The Toronto Raptors got back on track last night on home court, getting past the Detroit Pistons in impressive fashion by a score of 112-91. The Raptors were down by 4 points at halftime, 54-50, but stormed back in the 3rd quarter with an incredible 34 point effort, taking a 10 lead going into the 4th. From there Toronto did not let up, and increased the lead by 11, resulting with the final score.
The Pistons played strong and held their own with the Raptors, especially in the first half, but Detroit shot a paltry 19 of 35 from the free throw line on the night, not being able to cut into any leads that the Raptors built.
All 5 starters for Toronto finished the game in double digit scoring, led by Kyle Lowry's 21 points while adding 9 assists. Jonas Valanciunas, Amir Johnson, and Terrence Ross shook off their tough night against the Pacers on Tuesday, and responded with strong contributions. Amir & JV both had double-doubles; 10 points & 11 boards, and 16 points & 11 boards, respectively, while Terrence had 17 points including 5 made 3-point shots! DeMar DeRozan had a tough night shooting, only making 3 of 15 field goals – but he kept attacking the basket, and made 13 of 16 shots from the free throw line, leading to total of 19 points in the game.
As the Raptors have been doing in their wins, they once again shared the ball; collecting 25 assists on 35 made shots. They were also very strong defensively pulling down 55 total rebounds as a team, while blocking 10 shots (including 4 blocks by Amir Johnson).
Up next, The Toronto Raptors will host the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday Night on the Raptors' first ever 'Drake Night', celebrating the Toronto worldwide superstar music artist who is now an official Global Ambassador for the team.
