The Patriots had a under the radar draft with only one pick that really was somewhat expected by experts (Cyrus Jones) and all of the other picks were non spotlight related, which tend to nowadays, work out better than over hyped players.
Seventh round draft pick Devin Lucien, wide receiver out of Arizona State (transferred from UCLA), was a interesting draft choice and could possibly, if healthy, help the Patriots in a tremendous way. Throughout OTA’s, Lucien has been turning heads according to coaches and on the ascent towards earning a spot but competing against fellow receivers like Aaron Dobson and Keshawn Martin will provide challenges for the rookie WR but with Dobson constantly injured and Martin trying to make the team, Lucien has a decent chance of making the 53 man roster but the practice squad could be the ideal place for Lucien if all fails.
The opportunities will continue for Lucien and getting the necessary reps to keep fighting for the spot is key. Remember, fellow star receiver Julian Edelman was drafted in the 7th round as a QB out of Kent State then converted into the deadly wide receiver we know today and on special teams. Lucien has the tools to get on the roster and make a splash into the offense and prove to basically everyone why he should of been a higher draft choice and prove the haters wrong.
