Seahawks vs Patriots Preview

One of the most anticipated match ups this year for the Patriots (and all of the NFL), Pete Carroll and company get to make the cross country trek over to Foxboro, Massachusetts in the “Super Bowl XLIX rematch” in a Sunday night prime time event.

Malcolm Butler redefined Super Bowl moments with one of his own, which single handily topped most moments previously created. The undrafted rookie CB out of West Alabama understood the circumstances he was in and played like a 10 year veteran during the bright lights against Russell Wilson and company. Flash forward two quick seasons and the return of these two teams will bring new challenges with new players and this time, it’s in the land of New England.

After the 41-25 victory in Orchard Park against the Bills, Tom Brady and company are riding a 4 game winning streak since the loss against the first match up against Buffalo. A balanced pass game with dominating on the ground with Blount at the helm, New England seems to be a force to be wrecked with, but potential injuries down the road could cause problems the red hot Patriots, but with the next man up mentality and top level coaching, it almost unpredictable for what’s next in New England. Defensive tackle Alan Branch, tight end Martellus Bennett, wide reciever Julian Edelman and the ever so lingering injury to running back Dion Lewis could put a halt to the game plans, but never say never.

Brady has thrown 12 touchdowns with over 1300 passing yards in 4 games and looks to try and pick apart the grinding Seahawks defense, who are full of loaded talent. Some injuries to the birds of the Northwest include defensive tackle Michael Bennett (who is Martellus’s brother for those who didn’t know), running back Thomas Rawls and tight end Jimmy Graham, who is arguably coming off his best performance of the season last week.

To win this game, the Pats need to capitalize on the secondary of Seattle, which consists of Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, for the passing game. Potentially losing Martellus Bennett will impact New England and relying heavy on one or two receivers to carry the load. A potential breakout candidate for the Pats to shutdown is Christian Michael, the former A&M running back, who has replaced the injured Thomas Rawls.
