Wow! That was hard to watch. I couldn’t tell if the Patriots were playing the Jets or a high school team. Nobody goes into Gillette in the month of December and beats Tom Brady, especially considering that he is 54-10 in his career in the month of December. The Jets aren’t exactly healthy at the moment either. Injuries have set the Jets back this season and it seems that nothing can go right for them. So it’s no surprise that a healthy Patriots team absolutely dismantled the injury-plagued Jets.
The Jets got the ball to start the game and they couldn’t get anything going. I know the Patriots defense is good and has been playing very well as of late but the Jets looked like scrubs on offense. They sat Fitzpatrick earlier in the season because of turnover trouble but were forced to put him in when Bryce Petty left the game with an apparent left arm injury. Patriots fans everywhere smiled when Fitzpatrick came in to the game, knowing he would certainly turn the ball over. Fitzpatrick didn’t disappoint Patriots fans as he came in and threw two interceptions. Bryce Petty also threw an interception and Khiry Robinson fumbled the ball which was recovered by Malcolm Butler. You can’t beat the Patriots by turning the ball over four times. When the Jets finally got into field goal range, Folk went one for two missing his first attempt wide right. The Jets offensive woes continued to spiral downhill as the game progressed.
Brady and the Patriots were near perfect on offense. Brady looked like his usual self, throwing for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jimmy G and the back-ups came in to play most of the second half, which gave Brady and the starters some rest and let the recently acquired Micheal Floyd learn the very complicated Patriots offense. The run game was solid today as Blount and Lewis combined for over 100 yards. Blount also tallied two one-yard touchdowns putting him at 17 total on the season. Tom and the boys are heading into the playoffs with a bye week and home field advantage. It doesn’t get any better than that!
