Shane Victorino headed off to California for a second opinion about his back a couple of days ago. Victorino has spent more time on the DL this season than off. He started off with a hamstring injury and then the back kicked up once the season got underway. Well it looks like the second opinion also recommended back surgery. Not only did Shane Victorino have back surgery this afternoon, but he tweeted a picture of himself right before heading in under the knife.
This is another hit for the lost Red Sox season in 2014, but hopefully it means that Victorino will be healthy and productive for the team in 2015.
