Division Series Time

The Division Series round of the playoffs began yesterday. The Cleveland Indians beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4. While the Toronto Blue Jays easily handled the Texas Rangers 10-1. I know it’s frustrating to watch the playoffs without the Pirates but this is the time of year where baseball is at its best. There are so many potential storylines in this postseason.

We could see a team break a long World Series drought. (Cubs, Indians) We could see a team finally get over the hump to buck their “choker” moniker. (Dodgers, Nationals.) Or we could very well see the continuation of a dominant run of postseason success. (Red Sox, Giants) There are a lot of ways this postseason could go and that’s what makes it one of the most interesting in recent memory.

National League Takes Center Stage

Last night featured two American League playoff games, today the NL gets its turn. The Cubs-Giants and Nationals-Dodgers series both begin today. I am fascinated by both of these because either a dynasty has a shot to continue or the best regular season team looks to continue its dominant run to a World Series title. The Dodgers-Nationals series is really unique because both of these teams have been World Series favorites in the past and been accused of “choking.” So we know we’re guaranteed to see one of these teams in the NLCS. Will Clayton Kershaw finally be able to overcome his playoff demons? How will Bryce Harper do on the big stage?
