Pittsburgh Pirates Social Media Round-up: Playing Ball and Doing Good

The Pittsburgh Pirates had a rough go this week, but it hasn’t kept them from sharing a love of baseball and serving their community with a new generation.

A Sporting Game of Wiffle Ball

In the first Play Ball event of the Pirates’ 2017 season, the team hosted a fantastic game of wiffle ball with several lucky Bucs Social suite fans. Bob Walk and Josh Bell took part in the activities and by the smiles on everyone’s faces, a good time was had by all.

This video is worth watching just to see Bob Walk field a ball in flip flops!

Pump Up the Jams

Well, if you’re in the bigs, might as well go big, right? Chad Kuhl recently received this totally tricked out BumpBoxx and by the looks of it – he likes it. No word yet on how roomie Jameson Taillon feels.

According to their Insta site, BumpBoxx is an Urban Audio Company “bringing you the most unique products to tickle your ear drums!”

David Freese and a few teammates took in a Tool show between games last week…

Speaking of pumped up, Trevor Williams discovered the scary truth about the magnifying side of bathroom mirrors in hotel rooms:

#FamaleeForever

Reliever Jhan Marinez posted a photo of himself “with my beautiful grandmother.” So sweet!

Felipe Rivero had hands down the best catching partner in all of Baltimore recently, and he also has the best outlook on things – JUST HAVE FUN!

SOS Venezuela

The New York Daily News did a nice article about catcher Francisco Cervelli‘s continued efforts to use his position to bring attention to the on-going political strife in his native Venezuela.

Looking Back

IMG Academy tweeted a series of videos of Andrew McCutchen prepping for the 2017 season. Very enlightening…

Looking Ahead

There’s a reason they play 162 baseball games in a season. Ivan Nova knows that and doesn’t like to dwell on the past:

Doing Good

Josh and Brittney Harrison continue to work to help families in need, this time hosting a baby drive to provide diapers and wipes for expectant mothers across Pittsburgh.

And Gerrit and Amy Cole are doing their part for Pirates Charities and the Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh, one grape at a time:

And from May through the end of the season, Gregory Polanco is donating $25 for every hit he gets to help end poverty in his native Dominican Republic. He’s asking Pirates fans to join him in the effort with a goal of raising $10,000.  Read about it in our article about his efforts to strike out poverty and join his team here:

That’s all this week for the Pittsburgh Pirates Social Media Round-up. The Pirates face the fish in game 3 of a four games series today at 4:05 p.m. today. Have a great weekend and #LetsGoBucs!
