So the results are in. According to the official Sacramento Kings press release:
SACRAMENTO, CA, December 10, 2010 — Sacramento Kings’ guard Tyreke Evans underwent a precautionary MRI yesterday in Sacramento which confirmed the diagnosis of mild plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The MRI also revealed that the plantar fascia is intact and there is no stress fracture.
Evans will continue his prescribed treatments of the combination of medication, sleeping in a night splint and walking in a boot when not playing or practicing. He has been cleared to practice and play.
Tyreke is in practice and looking great. The Kings ran fast break drills for much of practice before turning to full scrimmage. After practice Tyreke stayed around to answer some questions for us media types. Here is the up to date information from Tyreke Evans himself:
- Tyreke on his sore foot: “It feels better. We had a day off and I got a chance to rest it and get a lot of treatment.”
- Tyreke on whether taking time off to rest his foot would help: “Not right now. It hasn’t got worse, it got better and I’m wearing the boot so hopefully it will get better.”
- Evans on the relief that the MRI was negative: “It was pretty cool. I talked to Pete (Youngman -Kings trainer) when I got in and he said it was mild plantar fasciitis and that means it’s getting better.”
Clearly there is a major sense of relief that the injury was not more substantial. Expect Tyreke to be in uniform tomorrow when the Kings take on the Miami Heat at Arco Arena. Hopefully Evans and his teammates can put on a good show in front of a packed house.
