Kings’ fans bring the noise.

For those of you who missed the Kings/Clippers game last night, here is a quick clip of some of the action.  If you are at home, turn it up.  If you are in the office, throw on some head phones because it’s going to get noisy.

That was a great moment, the place just went nuts.  That kind of play and that kind of support is really, almost poetic when you’re part of it.

With the help of 17,317+ screaming fans, the Sacramento Kings won a bit of nail biter 105-99.  Newly acquired Marcus Thornton was the best player on the court, scoring 16 of his game high 29 in the deciding fourth quarter.  But from the clip above, you can tell that from the fans’ perspective, a lot more than a game was at stake as the citizens of Sacramento threw themselves behind the Here We Stay movement.

Coach Westphal began his post game press conference with, “If you guys have any questions, you’re going to have to speak up, I don’t think I can hear too well,”  he continued,  “That was loud in there.  That was fantastic to have the people that behind us.  It really meant a lot and it was great for our team to experience that.”

Westphal is correct, it was loud and the fans definitely had an impact on the game. With the Clippers trailing by four with under two minutes remaining, DeAndre Jordan, a suspect free throw shooter to begin with, missed four consecutive freebies with the booming crowd waived thunder sticks and signs all around him.  While the Clippers crumbled, the Kings fed off the intensity of the crowd, bringing a little bit of the old Arco thunder back to Sacramento.

The Coach wasn’t the only one impressed.  Every player we spoke to in the locker room heaped praise on the crowd and if there was one message that they wanted to convey, it was – keep it going.

“Vlade, Peja and Hedo were playing here so I like to watch them.  I saw how the crowd was then and this definitely brought back some memories.  The crowd today was definitely the sixth man and helped us get this win and I’m sure that if there would be more games like this, we definitely would win a couple of more games that we basically lost in the fourth quarter by five points.”

“I ain’t seen it like this since C-Webb, Peja, Mike Bibby and those guys but hopefully we can bring it back.  We need the fans and hopefully they’ll come to all the home games.”
