It is official. The Kings open the 2011-12 NBA season Decemember 26th, the same way they ended the 2010-11 season, at home against the Los Angeles Lakers. With the lockout killing more than seven weeks of the season, the NBA will play an impacted 66 game schedule, including some pretty hectic stretches for all teams. After the jump is a quick look at some of the rough spots for the Sacramento Kings followed by the complete 2011-12 regular season schedule.
- One set of back-to-back-to-back games: January 3, 4, 5 (at Memphis, at Denver, vs. Milwaukee)
- One set of five games in six nights: December 31, January 1, 3, 4, 5 (vs. New York, vs. New Orleans, at Memphis, at Denver, vs. Milwaukee)
- Longest road trip is six games: February 14-22 (at Chicago, at New York, at Detroit, at Cleveland, at Miami, at Washington)
- Longest home stand is nine games: March 7-22
- Big teams missing from the home schedule: Miami
- Toughest road month: January (five of 17 on the road)
- Easiest home month: March (12 of 18 at home)
The Kings are going to have a tough start to the season with lots of road games and tough home contests. The initial stretch to start the season is brutal, leading off with the Lakers, Portland and Chicago before their lone 5 games in 6 night stretch. Mixed in there is a back-to-back-back with a road contest at Memphis, at Denver and then home for Milwaukee. Denver is considered one of the toughest back to back spots in the NBA because of the travel and time zone exchange.
