The Sacramento Kings received a rude welcome Tuesday evening in the City of Brotherly Love, losing 112-85 in a laugher. Rookie Jimmer Fredette got the call in place of the injured Marcus Thornton, scoring just seven points and handing out three assists in 24 minutes of play.
The 76ers finished with six players in double figures, led by veteran Elton Brand, who scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. DeMarcus Cousins scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the visiting Kings, who start off their five-game road trip on the wrong foot.
Notes and Analysis
- In defeat, Jason Thompson gave the Kings a huge boost off the bench, scoring 13 points on 6-for -7 shooting in 17 minutes of action.
- Jimmer Fredette started his first career NBA game and did not look confident at all. The rookie scored seven points and dished out three assists, but turned the ball over three times.
- Travis Outlaw went 1-for-8 on the night, lowering his field goal percentage on the season to 25 percent.
- Another continuing trend for the Kings is their incredibly low, but consistent assist rate. The team is ranked 29th in the league in assists and managed only 16 tonight.
- Cousins racked up another five foul evening. He now has five or more fouls in seven of the Kings nine contests this season.
- Former King Spencer Hawes came into the game averaging an impressive 12.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He scored zero points and handed out three assists tonight before exiting the game due to injury.
- The 76ers’ Evan Turner missed a triple-double by just two assists, posting 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight dimes.
- Stat of the night: The Kings were outscored 32-18 in the third quarter. Coach Smart addressed this on the telecast, “We didn’t have it. We were flat, flat, flat coming out in that third quarter. “
