Mired in an extended funk, the Sacramento Kings received more bad news Friday afternoon. Veteran point guard Darren Collison is doubtful for tomorrow night’s game in Utah with a strained hip flexor.
Collison sustained the injury on a move to the hoop at the 1:44 mark of the second quarter in Thursday’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks. After scoring over center Tyson Chandler, Collison was visibly in pain. Moments later, he exited the game and went directly to the locker room for treatment.
The 27-year-old Collison has missed just three games this season due to injury. He is averaging a career-high 16.1 points, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game in his first season in Sacramento.
If Collison can’t go, expect Ramon Sessions to start in his place against the Jazz.
