Kings fans finally had a chance to watch their beloved team at home and the Sacramento Kings did not disappoint.
The 95-92 victory was a tricky final score because the Kings were in control for the vast majority of the second half. Once they cleared the bench, the Spurs made their run.
The biggest positive from my perspective had to be the overall performance of Rajon Rondo, who finished with six points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. The way he ran the show was impressive and many of his teammates took notice of it.
“With Rondo you really have to be alert because you never know when he’s going to pass it,” said James Anderson who made his first start for the Kings tonight.
Head coach George Karl also chipped in the Rondo praise.
“I think our point guard play is in a great place,” Karl said. “I think both Darren (Collison) and Rajon Rondo are starting point guards in the league and I think both of them could have great years for us.”
Ben McLemore was a different story. He had a difficult time adjusting since he really hasn’t come off the bench since his rookie season. With that said, he didn’t use that as an excuse and understands he needs to regain his confidence.
“I told myself I have to be a lot more aggressive,” said a calm McLemore. “My teammates let me know, my coaches did too.”
McLemore is an important piece to this team and even though he has struggled the past three games, the veteran leadership on this team will help him fight through adversity and get him back on track.
