The Lithuanian big man Arturas Gudaitis has suffered a minor ankle injury that will keep him sidelined for a couple weeks. The Kings own the rights to the 6-foot-10, 22-year-old from Lithuania after making the trade with the 76ers.
Unfortunately, Gudaitis has only played in four of the 10 games with BC Lietuvos Rytas this season and has struggled when he has gotten a chance to play.
It has been reported by sportando.com that the Kings plan to invite Gudaitis to their summer league roster next year but at this rate, they may take back the offer since he has a multi-year deal with Lietuvos Rytas and hasn’t shown his promising potential this season.
The young Gudaitis has been regarded as one of the best young prospects in Europe but hasn’t managed to stay healthy. He was the 47th pick of 2015 NBA Draft and was reported that Vlade Divac himself requested to acquire Gudaitis.
During the summer, Gudaitis was invited to the training camp of the Lithuanian national team where he started off successfully and showed how fast he is progressing. As many already know, Divac can scout talent when he sees it and this young man has lots of it.
But again, his health has been a major issue that needs to be resolved as he gets older because he won’t last long in the NBA if he can’t stay healthy.
Therefore, if Gudaitis has any aspirations of capturing the Kings’ attention this winter, he will have to begin to perform at a high level after he comes back from his ankle injury.
