The NBA is a business and the players know that. They must do what is best for themselves and their family. Rudy Gay and Langston Galloway both have player option’s that are due very soon.
Gay’s player option decision date will arrive early, since the Sacramento Kings didn’t make the playoffs. The organization and its fan base will know if Gay will remain a member of the team at least for one more season on April 17. (*Update: He has up to June 10th to make his decision)
Galloway’s decision will come on June 24, 2017, which is two days after the 2017 NBA draft. He will have a good idea of what direction they are heading in depending on what they draft. He understands he can play a back up role at either the point guard or shooting guard position because of his great ability to shoot the ball.
Galloway would be a solid backup at the point if he decides to opt-in because his mentorship would be priceless for any young point guard the Kings decide to draft.
Both Gay and Galloway are savvy veterans that can contribute on the floor and in the locker room. They will have options if they decide to opt-out, but I’m betting that the Kings organization hope they can stay and mentor the younger players on and off the court for at least one more season.
It will be an interesting offseason. Stay tuned Kings fans. We have you covered!
