Defenseman Chris Butler has played pretty well for the St. Louis Blues in 2018-19. His steady play has been one of the best surprises in a season that’s been mostly void of any positivity to date. Following a practice that saw Blues players literally exchanging punches, Butler provided some spot-on analysis.

Butler’s thoughts are right on the money. The Blues did have some additional pressure heading into the year and some players have clearly succumbed to it. That’s led to sitting back after falling behind or giving up on an unlucky bounce. Or fighting your teammate in practice.
Unrelated to the main issue at hand, Butler’s interview here is as professional as they come. He sounds like a player who could find plenty of success working in the front office after his playing days are over. His view of the game is from an angle that many players fail to see – the bigger picture.
