Jason Witten was a great NFL tight end, but he’s an awful broadcaster, as Monday Night Football viewers have learned this season.
Witten rarely ever provides any solid analysis — more often than not, he’s just spouting off hot takes or statements that make very little sense, and it’s resulted in some fans just choosing to watch the games on mute.
Monday’s Saints-Panthers game was no different, as Witten spent half the game talking about guys that “need to make that play,” even on diving interception attempts and seemingly-uncatchable balls.
Not only that, he had a particularly stupid comment during the game, in which he lauded quarterback Cam Newton for being good “after the catch.” The problem is that he’s a quarterback, and he doesn’t throw the ball to himself, and Twitter had a field day with it.
Too bad Jason Witten didn't take up that #Cowboys offer to return to playing football instead of talking about it.
He's pretty good at one of those, he's pretty awful in the other. https://t.co/ze16PE5JCD

Jason Witten is the egg-shell in the swatch of color commentators.
