The St. Louis Blues have won three of their last four games. That’s a huge deal for a team that has struggled to string together decent performances. Yes, that one loss was an ugly 5-1 defeat to the Vancouver Canucks, but their wins were entertaining 4-1, 3-1 and 4-1 performances. Are the Blues finally starting to click?
Just asking that question probably jinxed any positive mojo the Blues had going for themselves. My apologies. However, fans and people who write about this team extensively are eager for any kind of positive spin they can find.

To be totally fair, that GAA isn’t exactly exemplary. But it is an improvement over the time where both Blues goaltenders sported a 3.00+ GAA. We’ll take any improvement where we can find it, especially when it comes to goaltending and defense.
On offense, Pat Maroon has chipped in two goals and an assist in his last four games. That’s huge as Maroon had previously only had one goal in 25 contests and looked completely lost on offense. His storybook return to St. Louis has gotten off to an extremely slow start.
Ryan O’Reilly has continued his strong season and now has a respectable 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points in 35 games.
The rest of the roster has started to chip in – even Jay Bouwmeester on offense! – and the team is looking like more of a … team. Hard to believe, right?
Overall, the Blues are showing some signs of life. They’re still rough around the edges and have lots of weak areas that need to be addressed, yet there’s finally some bright spots.
Will they be able to put enough wins together to make a run at the playoffs? Though mathematically possible, it’s doubtful. But stranger things have happened. At the very least they should be able to give fans something to cheer about and look like a mostly competent group of professionals.
