The mailbag is back! This week I answer a ton of wrestling questions and not too much in the sports department besides Bills FA targets and the Sabres sucking. Enjoy and tell a friend.
@BuffaloWins here’s a Q. You got the book for Mania. What are your top 3 or 4 matches. And why do you think Vince hates Daniel Bryan?

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsVince hates Bryan because he doesn’t fit the look WWE wants. Vince wants BIG dudes. That’s been his MO since the 80s. The only smallish guys who got over were HBK and Bret Hart and that was in large part because of the mid-90s steroid dilemma. If you are smaller, it takes forever for Vince to notice you and want to push you. Vince wants you to be the guy who could go on some 2nd rated TV show and smile like a doofus and sell how great WWE has become. He wants guys who when a random person sees on TV, they go “WOW! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT GUY! HE’S A WRESTLER!”
If I’m booking…I’d do Rollins vs Ambrose vs Reigns for title. Do a 3-way match with the shield history. Have Rollins cash MIB in order to get to that point. Do Lesnar vs. Bryan. It would totally be David vs. Goliath. However, we all know Vince won’t do that, so, let’s try and do it realistically. I’d do MITB contract in a ladder match between Rollins/Bryan, Cena/Hogan vs. Ruslev/Iron Shiek (Don’t laugh. Alright, laugh), Reigns vs. Lesnar but do a double turn and have Lesnar as a face and Heyman be the mouthpiece for Reigns. HHH vs. Sting and Taker vs. Wyatt. If Taker doesn’t come back, I’d say do Wyatt vs. Orton. Oh, and word of advice if you wanna push a big dude who can’t really work well or cut promos (Reigns)…do what WCW did with Goldberg and pretty much kill everyone while giving him a hot tag line (IE: YOUR NEXT). It got Ryback over 2 years ago and he sucked.

Talking about rumble. WWE just refuses to listen to fans and keep thinking the Internet fans don’t exist. They do when its a PPV, especially in a northeast. No one likes getting crap shoved down their throats in wrestling. They want to make the choice in the end because they want it to feel organic. They (WWE) don’t realize the magnitude of the problem they have right now. Ratings are terrible and the stock price is 20 dollars fewer than this time last year. The best part of their show is Brock Lesnar and he’s probably leaving. Also, the WWE crowd at WM is going to boo the shit out of Reigns when he wins the title. Good job, dicks.

If it were up to me, I’d knock down a majority of the silos in Buffalo. Look, we have like a shitload of them. Pick the best 5 and leave them untouched. If you have someone who wants to make a silo into a beer garden, go for it. Sorry preservationists and Chris Ostrander, but we don’t need all of them to be up.

Luke: after getting booed out of Philly, will WWE go ahead with a Roman Reigns-Brock Lesnar main event for Wrestlemania, or swerve us again?
They are going to go with it, unless Reigns starts getting booed in every arena between now and then like Batista did last year. Reigns is the chosen one and I think they will just ride it and hope fans are fine with it. They won’t of course. The key will be trying to put Bryan in a good program but I think they are gonna have him work Shameus while Orton goes against Rollins. Maybe WWE shouldn’t have killed off both World titles. If they had one of those still, they could just have Bryan run Smackdown and call it a day.
John: What free agents will the Bills target?
I think they are going to target the offense first and foremost. Guards and TEs would be a start for me. At TE, I’d totally make a run at either Jermaine Gresham or Julius Thomas. Both have had over 60 catches in a season and were rated in the top 5 for blocking TEs by PFF. I think one of those guys and Chandler would be a nice 1-2 punch. As for guard, I guess it would make sense to go after Mike Iupati from SF since Roman coached him. I’m not gonna pretend I’ve watched a bunch of 49ers games (PFF ranked him as the 14th best guard in the league), but at this juncture the OL really needs new blood in the interior. We will see where the Bills go here. Whaley has said before he doesn’t exactly value guards, but when you consider how Rex and Roman have been talking about the running game non-stop since they have arrived, you’d think they’d probably want someone better than Urbik and Pears.
I also wouldn’t rule out running backs. Supposedly Roman likes BIG running backs and CJ Spiller definitely doesn’t fit that mold. Maybe they look into the draft for it (I’d hope 3rd round at least). However, keep in mind that Rex Ryan had a few veteran backs during his time in NYC (Chris Johnson, LaDainian Tomlinson and Thomas Jones), so, its not like he was all about young backs. Maybe someone like Ryan Matthews who is probably looking for a short-term deal could be a match since he’s a bit bigger and reminds me a little of Frank Gore which could bold well for what Roman wants.
John: Will the Buffalo Sabres win more than ten games the second half of the season?
No. I don’t even think the worst has yet to come. In about a month, we are going to hit the trade deadline and the Sabres are gonna start selling off “assets” like Stafford and Enroth. Maybe even Tyler Myers. They will probably get nothing but draft picks or prospects in return. In other words, I think they are going to be even worse than they are today.
