Word out of Columbia recently that four USC football players will miss spring practice this year due to ongoing recovering from past injuries. All four of the players are on the defensive side and they are as follows: FS Chris Culliver, DE Cliff Matthews, DT Travian Robertson, and LB Rodney Paulk.
You may recall that Culliver had shoulder surgery following the season. This was the second shoulder procedure for Culliver, who was re-injured against Tennessee. Also Cliff Matthews will sit and let his shoulder heal up too after some issues with it.
Robertson and Paulk are both recovering from knee injuries suffered very early in the 2009 season and with knee injuries like this, time is a good thing.
Defensive Coach Ellis Johnson seems confident all four players will be back and at full speed come Fall 2010. This also could be viewed as a good things as it will allow the staff to look at some young guys as various positions and add to the competition for depth chart positions while these guys rest up.
