The USC Gamecocks practiced today and the big news is Dion LeCorn has moved from offense to defense (again).
Little surprised by this as his career at USC has been as a wide out after trying the defense side ball once before for a short stint in 2008. He is known as the better blocking WR and hopefully that will mean good things as he switches to the defensive side of the ball for the second time. Will it last? Hmmm, not sure but depth at Spur is a issue so his resources could be needed in the immediate future.
He is working at spur and boundary safety. This move was on his own request, indicating to the coaching staff that he wants to help the team in any way he can.
I hope Dion finds success as he is a good kid who has had tough luck. If you recall, he had a broken ankle in the 2009 Spring game that limited him last year then earlier this year had a scare with his kidney. Seems he is back to full health but simply wants to play ball as this is his senior year and the depth chart at WR is deep.
Glad to see him stepping up and being a team player that is willing to help in areas the team needs it.
