BCS National Championship – Auburn v Oregon
The Tigers and Ducks seem to be on a collision course. Auburn must get by Alabama, and Oregon must get through Arizona. If these two teams meet, the winner might be the first one to 40.
Sugar Bowl – LSU v TCU
This match-up could be the BCS Busters’ dream: the best non-BCS team of the BCS era against an established SEC power with a penchant for strange endings. Regardless of which team wins, BCS or anti-BCS proponents will surely take the result as proof that they are right.
Capital One Bowl – Alabama v Ohio State
The Crimson Tide and the Buckeyes began the season with national title aspirations, and playing in the Capital One Bowl is probably a disappointment. The team that can accept the season and dedicate itself to preparing for this game will win.
Cotton Bowl – Arkansas v Oklahoma
Old Southwestern Conference rivals meet in Dallas. The Razorbacks and Sooners will draw a great crowd and huge interest in Big D.
Outback – Florida v Iowa
Didn’t these two teams play in this game a few years ago? Rematch of 2005 Outback Bowl will probably be overshadowed by SEC West teams playing on the same day.
Chick Fil-A – Kentucky v Miami
The Wildcats parlay their South Carolina win into a bowl outside of the state of Tennessee. The Hurricanes are one of many possible entrants from an even matched ACC.
Gator Bowl – South Carolina v Penn State
Gator Bowl’s first year with an SEC tie-in gets a good TV match-up. Paterno versus Spurrier storyline will dominate the coverage.
Music City – Mississippi State v NC State
The Dan Mullen era is officially a success as the Bulldogs make it back to a bowl game for only the second time since 2000. The Wolfpack provide a competitive match-up.
Liberty – Georgia v Central Florida
Disappointing year for Dawgs comes to an end in Memphis. They easily roll through over-matched UCF team.
Of course, this could all change next week. We’ll project again next week, so check back with leftoverhotdog.com to see where the SEC will be spending the holidays.
