SEC Coaching Carousel: Urban Meyer To Resign At Florida

There are now multiple reports stating that Urban Meyer will step down as head football coach of the University of Florida. A news conference is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight to discuss the decision. Meyer will reportedly stay coach through the team’s appearance in the Outback Bowl on January 1.

Twitter account Gator Updates reported the story, and it was echoed by national radio host Todd Wright.  Long-time state of Florida reporter Brett McMurphy is also reporting the story.  So safe to say this has truth behind it and the Dan Mullen talk is already begun.

Gamecocks Spin:
Hope all is well with Coach Meyer and wish him look in next chapter of what life brings.  SEC East in 2011 is again looking to be ripe for the South Carolina taking.

Last December, he announced he was leaving the team for medical reasons, but changed his mind the next day.

This time it is being reported as “family reasons.”

Stay tuned for more facts surrounding this issue and more on the SEC Carousel.
